DIY Wedding Ideas - Bridal Gowns

These days, couples want weddings that are beautiful, practical, represent who they are, and perhaps most importantly, not break the bank. With rising inflation all around, couples are finding there are investments or competing priorities (such as the couple’s first home, for example). Additionally, due to COVID-19, many couples are scaling down the affair, perhaps they’ve already got married in the courthouse, and felt that spending $30,000 on a party is excessive. Plus, with all of the work that needs to go into wedding planning, couples are welcoming any areas to simplify without sacrificing beauty and style.

A perfect example of this is wedding invitations. Gone are the days of hand calligraphy invitation suites that required pre-paid postage stamps and tracking of RSVP’s by hand. Instead, online wedding invites and RSVPs are taking over by the storm. Not only does it save money, it also adds convenience and saves time. Did you know that the bridal gown is another area that may also save you some serious $$$?

With the added choices and convenience of Internet orders these days, there are many beautify budget-friendly made-to-order dresses that may even save you on alteration cost, as you can input your precise measurements directly in the order (although I would advise you order a standard size with the best fit and send for local alteration if necessary, as tailored items are non-returnable). One website I have personally tried is JJ’s House. When I got married back in 2013, their bridal gown selection was very limited, but I did purchase my second dress for dancing from them for under $200. Considering a bridal gown from a traditional bridal store can cost anywhere from $2,000 - $5,000, this is some serious saving! Check out some of their popular designs:

With 100+ dresses to pick from, and a search feature that can filter by silhouette, length, neckline, sleeves, fabric, color, purchasing a wedding gown has never been easier before. Worried about purchasing such an important item without first trying it on? They offer a 14-day worry free return policy if you order standard sizes. This is just one website that I have personally tried. Other similar websites include the following in no particular order:

So still looking for the perfect dress for your big day? Maybe consider an unconventional route with an online vendor! Have you already tried a wedding dress from one of these vendors?  Please let me know how it turned out!
